and support. Week after week at our appointments, they provided us
with information (and involved us in making decisions), encouraged
us, and ensured that Anika and Lisa were healthy. We will strongly
recommend your UNC Midwife practice to anyone who is pregnant. After
our experience, we are in awe of Susan and Kathy's commitment, medical
expertise, and ability to provide us with a holistic and participative
birth experience.

our labor, we received clinical services from Dr. Christina Munoz.
Dr. Munoz's bedside manner was exceptional. She ensured that the
insertion of a catheter was as noninvasive as possible, and made
Lisa feel relaxed and comfortable. She visited us the day following
the birth, which made us feel very supported and important.

"I
am so thankful that I chose a midwife for my delivery at UNC. I had
a wonderful experience and encourage everyone expecting to consider
doing the same. I first chose a midwife so I would have a someone
to rely on if my husband didn't make it through the birth of our first
baby. Since there were only 3 midwives I would be able to get to know
them better and know who was going to show up for the delivery. What
I didn't count on is the bond that would be created between us during
the 9 months in preparation of the big day. Jane, Susan, and Kathy
didn't just check on the baby during the appointments, they checked
on me both physically AND emotionally. It was if they knew what questions,
and fears, I would have each time we meet and thus educated and reassured
me each time.
"When it was time to go to the hospital I called them. I can't
tell you how wonderful it is to have a familiar voice on the other
end of the phone...it's like having a family member tend to your delivery.
Jane was the one who helped me through the birth. Her calmness and
knowledge made the delivery so easy. She was there for me the entire
time-even to see how I was recuperating, getting along with the baby,
and making sure a lactation consultant was available for help. I can't
thank them enough for all their support and for delivering my beautiful
